"The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong... but time and chance happen to them all."

Clan MacLear is a roleplay guild, essentially. We began on September 30th, 1997, as Hand of Virtue in a game called Ultima Online with the greeting, "Mi faultich thu co sàor neach !"

If you're interested in an online family of mature gamers, consider joining us via the link below.

This was written specifically for us, by a bard friend. It's written for the Forgotten Realms setting, in case you lose track of some of the names. Here are his words.

A Song for thee.....I call it....
The Song of MacLear
------or--------
The Great, Grand, Gory, and Glorious, Whip-em-Into-an-Orgasmic-Battle-Frenzy, Blacken the Hills with Bodies, Yee-Hah Let's Kick Some Kitty Butt And Go Have Ale, MacLear Doo Dah Ditty

We scamper 'neath the Snowflake's wing;
Final rest to all we bring!
On the field, in Bardic Ring,
MacLear s come upon you!

MacLear s dancing on your head,
By the valiant NosFerum led.
Run away or you'll be dead!
MacLear s come upon you!

Warriors, we, with many tale untold;
We are clawed and armed and valiant bold!
Welcome to our frigid world.
MacLear s come upon you!

Dragons or griffins on our shield?
Nay! To that we cannot yield!
"North" is "nord," but what is "field"?
MacLear s come upon you!

Belting you in your butts;
Claws and swords that slash and cut!
Yah, sure, we like gore and guts!
MacLear s come upon you!

From the Canon we do hail.
There we bathe and tell our tale.
Its waters rush on without fail.
MacLear s come upon you!

Hammer rampant, colored gold:
Brave are we, and also bold!
(Just wish we weren't so darn cold!)
MacLear s come upon you!

Saints and Dragons, and romantics:
Courtly Love and Bardic Schtick:
Last courts, Underhill, take your Pick!
MacLear s come upon you!

Our names as fearsome as our bite;
Un-spellable, a dreadful sight:
Beware if you don't say them right!
MacLear s come upon you!

In vowels and consonants we reign;
Names never cease more length to gain.
Proudly known as Herald's Bane!
MacLear s come upon you!

Singing "Landlord" night and day.
Freak the mundanes so they stay
Far out of our fearsome way.
MacLear s come upon you!

Packed with valor in Tempus' care,
Battle-mobile extrordinaire!
"Are we almost halfway there?"
MacLear s come upon you!

From spirit's hill to land of Knights
We'll scurry to our gath'ring sites
Romp we to our hearts' delight.
MacLear s come upon you!

Our natures blithe, but be it known:
We answer danger with fearless tone.
If threat come to one of our own,
MacLear s come upon you!

See our martial diligence.
Teach us all to fight and fence:
Soon you'll need some more defense!
MacLear s come upon you!

Like the winter's harshest cold;
Like the valiant warriors of old;
Like the wolf upon the fold;
MacLear s come upon you!

MacLear s from high upon the hill,
MacLear s from river valley will
Unite to sing and fight and kill!
MacLear s come upon you!

We in coats of gold and black,
Tail to tail and back to back,
Singing as we slash and hack!
MacLear s come upon you!

Though you fought in battle brave,
Nothing now your souls can save.
Piling rocks upon your grave,
MacLear s come upon you!

His most exalted Tempus stands,
Guarding us in foreign lands--
Seneschals and travelling bands.
MacLear s come upon you!

Should stranded by the road we be
In need of aid or transport free
Who saves us but Tempus you see?
MacLear s come upon you!
